The Challenge
The October 2013 deadline is approaching and thousand of healthcare related facilities, payers and health system vendor are required to implement ICD-10 into their current information systems. Transitioning multiple systems with over 15,000 ICD-9 procedure and diagnosis to ICD-10 with more than 140,000 codes is a daunting task and requires a comprehensive solution. Our SystemAnatomy service offering provides the solution to assist achieving compliance.

Benefits of System Anatomy
System Anatomy is an analysis and research software tool that can be used across the project lifecycle. •Fully customizable, flexible and versatile for identifying all data sources and specific dependencies within your IT business application portfolio across various platforms through the analyst driven query capability. Dynamically produce both ad hoc and predefined reports. •Refreshable process to monitor ICD-10 compliance across the development lifecycle while compliance transition is underway. •Adaptable to accommodate system changes as project needs arise.
•Easily enhanced to handle non-standard technologies. •Dynamically produce application documentation. •Measure productivity and increase accuracy.
Inventory Analysis
The process begins with gathering the application inventory. This includes all the application entities such as programs, screens, scheduler, etc. to be included in the analysis. Generally core applications that are highly impacted by ICD-10 will be included in the inventory analysis. System Anatomy will do a comprehensive review of the applications and identify missing entities. Our team will work with you to resolve all outstanding issues before the impact analysis begins.
Impact Analysis/Assessment
High-level impact assessment determines the potential size and scope of basic remediation. Identifying how much the current ICD-9 code set is ingrained in your organization's operations and technology infrastructure is a key indication of the scope of the ICD-10 transition. We utilize System Anatomy software to search for all the impacts of ICD-10 procedure or diagnostic changes on a variety of code bases, and identify the potential modifications required. System Anatomy will quickly discover all potential impacted fields as well as locate any downstream fields (redefined, moved, overlays, etc.) to make sure nothing is missed. The output of this activity will allow you to develop a conversion strategy, budget, and identify potential issues.
Risk Mitigation
If your ICD-10 efforts are already underway, we provide validation services. Most analysis is completed as of a point in time – as a result, anything new or changed in the IT application is often not included in the ongoing ICD-10 transition causing errors or issues that are not caught until testing. To mitigate this risk, we can begin the validation process anytime during the lifecycle but usually after assessment is completed or during remediation. Utilizing System Anatomy for discovery purposes and implementing a refreshable process, we help to integrate and coordinate ICD-10 efforts with all ongoing project initiatives.
