The Analytics Space Gains Momentum
The analytics space continues to gain momentum. This week SAP announced the acquisition of Sybase: SAP Acquires Sybase.
Meanwhile, IBM talked about the importance of software to their five year plan. IBM turns to Software. They plan to aggressively acquire companies in th next five years - committing $20 Billion to meet those objectives.
IBM’s belief that the future is about analytics seems to be at the heart of their strategy. I’ve had the opportunity to talk to several prospects this week and I’m hearing a similar message. Whether it’s the Music industry, Publishing, or Consumer Electronics, every conversation is about the overwhelming amount of data that these business people are trying to analyze. How can we analyze an overwhelming amount of textual data? How can we predict future outcomes? How can we present all this insight to executives visually? This is not yesterday’s business intelligence. This new world of analytics is multi-faceted and dependent upon advanced analytics – It’s the next big wave.
